Outdoor Activities

Pen Isaf Caravan Park’s location combines escape with convenience, being only 15 miles from Betws y Coed, 7 miles from the market town of Llanrwst and 12 miles from Abergele. Also Llandudno, Conwy, Denbigh and Ruthin are all within a 40 minute drive from the caravan park, so you can make your stay with us as relaxed or active as you like.

Llyn Brenig Reservoir and Visitor Centre is a pleasant 30 minute drive from the site and offer a range of outdoor activities including sailing, fishing, children play area and cycle hire.  There is also a 9.5 mile walking/cycling route around the lake. 

Enjoy a warming drink or a hearty meal at the Llyn Brenig Cafe. The cafe has a panoramic view of the lake and surroundings and is the perfect place to start or end a walk or cycle ride. 

RibRide, located in Menai Bridge (45 minute from site) is an Adventure Boat Tour company.

Experience the tranquility of the Menai Straits, its stately homes, ferocious tides and whirlpools. Travel seaward to either Llanddwyn Island, a rocky peninsula of outstanding beauty surrounded by white sandy beaches or Puffin Island and its seal colony and swarms of varied birds.  If you just want speed then Velocity is the worlds fastest RibRide. 

Walking on site offers fine panoramic views of the peaks of Snowdonia from the high fields overlooking the caravan park or you can take a lovely walk down to the nearby river.  

There are also plenty of waking and hiking, cycling and mountain biking routes within a close proximity to the site.  Maps and walking route books can be found in the laundry room onsite.  

Why not make the most of the National Trust sites nearby, Bodnant Gardens is a scenic 20 minute drive from the site.

North Wales is the perfect place for thrill seekers.  You won’t be short of adventures to go on or adrenaline pumping activities to take part in.   

True adventures

In Zip World Forest near Betws y Coed in a stunning woodland setting, a host of forest adventures and foodie delights await. With adventures to keep the whole family busy all day, choose from the Fforest Coaster, the UK’s only alpine coaster of its kind, bouncing fun on Treetop Nets or zip line and adventure courses high in the trees on Tree Hoppers or Zip Safari – plus you could try Europe’s highest giant swing, Skyride, if you dare!

Test your nerve by journeying through a mountain via a series of exciting adventurous challenges on one of our three epic underground adventures. Try your hand at zip-lining through caverns, or climbing up a vertical shaft, boating across a lake, traverse over an abyss, scale a waterfall or abseil your way down to the deepest point in the UK!  Also located near Betws y Coed.  

There are few places on earth where you can surf inland, but as luck would have it one of them is in North Wales. Adventure Parc Snowdonia is home to a surf lagoon and the only guaranteed surf break in the UK. But that’s not all! Check out the brand-new indoor and outdoor activities, including a brand-new Adrenaline Indoors facility and Explore Outdoors adventures.

Food & Drink

North Wales is a great place for foodies.  With an abundance of top standard restaurants and cafes you won’t be short of places to visit during your stay.  

The closest shop and pub (The Stag) are only 2 miles away in the rural village of Llangernyw which is 5 minutes in the car or a 40 minute stroll. The Stag offer takeaways as well as good local pub food.

15 minutes from site is the market town of Llanrwst with a range of eateries and takeaways.  Tir a Môr is a fish and chip shop and restaurant using local produce.  Lle Harri and The Eagles also offer great food.  A 20 minute drive away in Colwyn Bay, the chef Bryn Williams (owner of Odettes) has a beachside restaurant called Porth Eirias.  

Selling the famous and delicious Patchwork Pate, the factory shop in the small town of Ruthin is a must visit during your trip to North Wales.  

Don’t like pate?  They have plenty of other foods for you to enjoy and also sell hampers – what a great gift idea to take back home for your loved ones (or just as a special treat for yourself!).  

Take a break at the various restaurants, cafes or coffee shop on site at Bodnant Welsh Food Centre or simply visit the Farm Shop to stock up on local supplies for your stay in the caravan.

Plenty to do and something for everyone!  Why not take a trip to the nearby towns and take your time browsing the local shops and boutiques. Other nearby attactions include Slate Mines, Colwyn Bay Welsh Mountain Zoo, Llandudno’s Great Orme and a host of other attractions that cater for all tastes.

Family activities

Want some family or friends team building?  Locked In is the perfect place for problem solvers and puzzle enthusiasts.  Try to escape from the locked room within an hour by solving various puzzles, riddles and all sorts of hints and codes.

Unleash your inner-thrill seeker in our enormous underground net adventure! Jump and slide your way through the disused mine on the best playground ever!

Located in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Relax in the caravan overlooking the breath-taking views of the countryside, and watch the lambs in the surrounding fields in the spring. There is also plenty of room for the children to play safely on the field and in the adventure play area or the games room on site.
